Ooo Calendar - Custom Web Platform
Ooo Calendar is a new digital product created specifically for the Bulgarian market. It brings together everything people need to plan their year - public holidays, name days, religious and traditional celebrations, international observances, school holidays, exam dates and opportunities to combine annual leave with non-working days. The entire project was created by Studio Hivenapse - from the original idea and product logic to the logo, visual identity, UX/UI design and custom development of the platform. Our goal was to transform the familiar calendar into a genuinely useful tool that does more than display dates. Ooo Calendar helps people plan their time more easily and make the most of every day off.

One calendar for holidays, time off and making better use of the year ahead
A calendar may appear to be a familiar and straightforward product, but behind its simplicity lies a complex system of interconnected information and functionality.
Each date can include several types of events - a public or international holiday, a name day, a religious celebration, a traditional observance, a school holiday or an exam. This information must also work alongside each user’s individual annual leave allowance, planned days off and opportunities to connect annual leave with public holidays and weekends.
The challenge was to organise this volume of information within a clear and intuitive interface, without making the calendar feel crowded or difficult to navigate.
At the same time, the platform needed to be flexible enough to support new features, content and user journeys as the product continues to evolve.
The Product
Ooo Calendar combines multiple planning tools and sources of information within one connected platform.
Everything that matters throughout the year
Users can see what is being celebrated or observed on every day of the year - from public, religious and traditional holidays to international days, name days, school holidays and exam dates.
Each holiday has a dedicated page featuring its history, traditions, associated names, interesting facts and whether it is officially recognised as a working or non-working day.
A personal annual leave planner
Ooo Calendar is more than an information resource. Through a personal account, users can:
- enter their total annual leave allowance;
- mark the days they plan to take off;
- track how many leave days they have used and how many remain;
- discover opportunities to connect annual leave with public holidays and weekends;
- plan longer breaks while using as few annual leave days as possible.
Passwordless access
Accessing a personal account is designed to be just as simple. Users do not need to create or remember another password. They can sign in securely through their email address and access their personalised calendar.
Our Approach
We began with the product logic - what information people look for, how they plan their annual leave and which actions they should be able to complete as quickly as possible.
This became the foundation for the platform’s structure, user journeys and the relationship between the calendar, editorial content and personalised planning features.
A friendly and recognisable identity
We created a visual identity that makes the product feel modern, approachable and easy to recognise.
The logo and wider visual system were designed to evoke free time, anticipation and that small moment of excitement when you discover an opportunity to turn a few leave days into a much longer break.
UX/UI for a complex information system
The UX/UI design was built around a clear visual hierarchy. Different types of holidays and events needed to be instantly recognisable without competing for attention or overwhelming the interface.
We paid particular attention to the mobile experience, ensuring that users could quickly check dates and plan their time from any device.
Custom Development
Ooo Calendar is not based on an off-the-shelf template or a standard calendar module. It was developed as a bespoke digital product with its own functional and technical logic.
The system connects a large volume of calendar data, editorial content and personalised information for every user.
It must simultaneously display multiple types of events, calculate used and remaining annual leave and identify opportunities to connect leave days with public holidays and weekends.

The Outcome
We created a digital product unlike anything else currently available on the Bulgarian market, combining a holiday calendar, an information hub and a personal annual leave planner within one cohesive experience.
Instead of visiting multiple websites to check public holidays, name days, school holidays, exams and non-working days, users can find everything they need in Ooo Calendar - clearly organised and supported by practical planning tools.
The platform transforms the calendar from a passive source of information into a personal assistant for making better use of free time.
And this is only the beginning. Ooo Calendar was designed as an evolving digital product, with more features, content and planning possibilities still to come.
